Richmond Parrothead Donations – 2021

Despite the lingering pandemic, we managed to give to our community in 2021

 

January 2021
We started the year with a $300 donation to the Children’s Hospital of
Richmond (CHoP). We also decided to pay forward the $75 that the
Lone Palm Foundation paid for our Renewal fee and donated it to the
Feed More food bank.  We were also able to have a socially distanced social at a local winery attended by 12 members of our phlock.
February 2021
We made a $100 donation to the Mike Power EE 1996 Memorial
Endowment Fund at Georgia Tech in memory of Michael Power, the son of our members Betty and Tom Power.
March 2021
We supported one of our new members at a virtual launch event for a
book of short stories that he edited called The Great Filling Station
Holdup: Crime Fiction Inspired by the Songs of Jimmy Buffett.
April 2021
We had seven members volunteer at the Chesterfield County Food Bank with a combined 21 volunteer hours.
May 2021
Seven members volunteered at the Chesterfield County Foodbank on
for a total of 21 volunteer hours.  We donated $41 to the Feed More food bank.
June 2021
We donated $35 to the Feed More food bank with from our 50/50
raffle. We also had five members and a parakeet volunteer to distribute food at the Chesterfield County Food Bank, logging 15 volunteer hours. We made a $100 donation to a hospice care organization in memory of James B. Humphreys, the father of one of our members, Lisa Pauley. We raised $37.32 from the Amazon Smile program. We hosted a social on June 27th at Lattitude Seafood, at which we had 25 members in attendance. A 50/50 raffle was held at that event raising $80 for the Feed More food bank. This was the first large phlocking that we
could have since the onset of COVID.
July 2021
We raised $80 in the 50/50 raffle at our July meeting and donated it
all to the Feed More food bank.
August 2021
The 50/50 raffle raised $26 to donate to the Feed More food bank. We also donated $100 to the Young Eagles, a group that introduces and inspires kids to explore the world of aviation, in memory of Dave Sanders’s (a member) father.
September 2021
We had four volunteers who each worked three nights at the Chesterfield County Fair, pouring beer for a total of 48 volunteer hours. We donated $65 to the Feed More Food Bank. The membership donated $30 from the 50/50 raffle to the Children’s
Hospital of Richmond.  We were raised $237 in cash for beer
pouring at the State Fair. That was our share of the tip money.
October 2021
We donated $35 for the Feed More Food Bank. We received the money raised from pouring beer at the State Fair. We worked 234.5 volunteer hours and raised a total of $2,917.00.
November 2021
We had seven members and friends pour beer at the Richmond Folk
Festival for 35 volunteer hours. Fifty dollars was donated to the Feed
More Food Bank from the 50/50 raffle. We donated an
additional $150 to the Feed More Food Bank with $150 to the
Chesterfield County Food Bank as holiday donations. We had 26
members attend Meeting of the Minds and had one member donate
blood at the blood drive. Several members in attendance spent 30
hours volunteering at MOTM doing registration and security. We also
had one member run the 10k and two walk the 5k Zonta walk to raise
money for breast cancer screening in Key West.
December 2021
We had a phlocking hosted by two of our members to donate Fox Sox stockings to children in need. There were 13 members, and three parakeets. They stuffed 56 stockings with goodies donated by our members and accumulated 40 volunteer hours. The 50/50 raffle at the December meeting raised $25 for donation to the Feed More Food Bank. Two members also volunteered at the Chesterfield County Food Bank, accruing six volunteer hours. We encouraged our members to register for the Margaritaville Run virtual 5k throughout the year. Our club had the highest percent participation and won $1,000 for coming in first place. Throughout the year, we also save can tabs for the Ronald McDonald
House.
